"The existence of an integrated National Transport Strategy is an indispensable tool in this endeavor. But in order for it to bear fruit it must be accompanied by strong political will, consistency and determination, "Mr. Michalos stressed in his speech and added:" We, as market representatives, are ready to submit the knowledge and proposals us. We also ask the State to respond to its own role. "
As pointed out, within the framework of a National Transport Strategy, policies and interventions should be included, such as:
- Completion of road and rail networks.
- Enhanced intermodality, with an emphasis on connecting ports to the rail network.
- Initiatives to mobilize large private investments, with emphasis on the creation of freight and combined transport terminals.
- Exploitation of efficient public-private partnership models for the upgrading of ports and airports in the standards of Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
- Development of modern spatial planning, which will include a special provision for the autonomous development of Logistics Centers, with no anachronistic constraints.
- Incentives to develop supportive services and exploit new technologies.
- Incentives to develop a "green" supply chain, with fleet upgrades, energy upgrading of facilities and processes,
- Incentives for the development of the shipping support industry.
- Creation of complete supply chain parks in Thriasio and Thessaloniki
- Education and training for the development of specialized skills in the transport sector.
- Accelerating projects for the development of Fixed Track Instruments in large urban centers, with the extension of METRO in Athens and the completion of the METRO Thessaloniki. So that road axes can be relaxed, local markets stimulated and housing and commercial development opportunities can be created in new areas.
