LG extends the capabilities of Google Assistant across the range of smart home appliances

Belonging to its commitment to open platforms on smart devices of the future, LG Electronics (LG) today announced that 87 LG's smart Wi-Fi home appliances - including washing machines and tumble driers, refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners , air cleaners and many more - are now compatible with Google Assistant on Google Home, as well as selected Android and iOS smartphones.

With the widest range of smart devices in the industry, LG offers consumers more ways to control their home and enjoy the benefits of a connected home experience. Taking advantage of high-technology connectivity and convenience, LG extends Google Assistant's compatibility and functionality for smart devices announced earlier in the spring.

Voice control with Google Assistant

LG smartphone users with the help of Google Assistant in the home can have complete control of LG connected handsets, always hands-free. For example, they can use simple voice commands on their phone or anywhere within the range of the Assistant at Google Home to check the time remaining for washing in the washing machine, let their LG refrigerator make more ice, close the oven after cooking, adjust the temperature of their LG air conditioner and control the level of air quality at home using the LG air purifier. The Google Home Assistant can also separate one voice from each other to address each member of the family personally.

Simple setup from a central application: LG SmartThinQ®

Installation is simple and easy with the free LG SmartThinQ application, available for Android or iOS. With just one application, users can control the full range of LG smart devices. Whether it's warming up the oven while you're back home from work or controlling the remaining wash time while you're at the gym, LG's "hands-on" solution is easy to manage with smart devices.

Smart devices become even smarter with Adaptive Learning

Upgrading the convenience of home appliances, LG SmartThinQ learns the habits of a consumer and helps to predict its needs. The more a consumer uses smart LG devices, the more smart the devices become. So, using adaptive technology to interpret usage habits and usage data, LG's smart device knows when to notify owners about ordering filters for the refrigerator or air purifier and can cope with the accumulation of fluff in the dryer - all through LG SmartThinQ.

"LG makes it particularly easy for consumers to connect and interact with virtually all 2017 devices that have built-in Wi-Fi," said Song Dae-hyun, President of LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. "Our collaboration with Google is an example of our Open Partnership, Open Platform and Open Connectivity strategy."

In addition to Google, LG's open collaborations include others such as Amazon to meet the needs and preferences of smart home adopters.
