Chios is beneficial for mastic teeth and gums

A beneficial effect on oral health is the chewing gum of Chios due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anti-astonishing action.

Results of studies have shown that chewing mastic Chios for 20 minutes after meal enhances enamel re-enrichment, possibly through increased saliva flow. Studies have also shown a significant reduction in microbial load after Chios chewing gum for 45 minutes and a significant reduction in the microbial plaque marker in those who chewed it 20 minutes after each meal.

The above mentioned was the special orthodontist and chairman of the Dental Association of Chios , Andreas Karamouzos , in a speech at the 37th Panhellenic Dental Conference , which was held recently in Thessaloniki.

"The individualized use of oral hygiene products with natural chios mastic can be an additional means of modern preventive dentistry for the treatment of coronary dystonia and periodontal disease . The time of chewing gum with mastic plays an important role in the manifestation of its beneficial properties. The duration of chewing gum mastiha with sugar substitutes must be at least 10 minutes after lunch or midday"Said Karamouzos, stressing that Chios mastic, in addition to its anti-astonishing and antimicrobial action, reduces / inhibits the formation of microbial plaque, has a beneficial effect on gums and periodontal tissues, contributes to the sedative treatment of dry mouth and contributes to treatment of oral odor.

As Mr. Karamouzos explained, chewing gum with natural mastic Chios increases the pH of the dental microbial plate to the alkaline. "The use of Chios mastiha after a meal for at least 10 minutes contributes to the neutralization of acids produced on the microbial plate by fermentation of carbohydrates in the diet due to the increased regulatory capacity acquired by the stimulation saliva. Chios mastic chewing also causes a statistically significant reduction of caries in saliva (sterptococci mutans) compared to placebo dentures, "she said, citing studies by foreign scientists, adding that her use showed a gradual reduction of bacterial colonies in saliva at 62 , 1% .
