Former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was convicted

Cairo's Criminal Court today condemned former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

Together, another 19 persons in three years' imprisonment were accused of insulting the judiciary, and imposed a fine of 2 million Egyptian pounds (94,000 euros) on Morsi.

Others charged for the same case, including the top Egyptian activist Alaha Abdel Fatah and MP and television presenter Tauphik Okasa, were fined 30,000 to 1 million Egyptian pounds.

Verdicts may be appealed.

Morsi, who was democratically elected after the Egyptian revolution in 2011, was overthrown in mid-2013 by then-General Abdul Fatah al-Sisi, who is now president, after mass demonstrations against his government.
He was immediately arrested and now served a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of incitement to the murder of protesters during demonstrations in 2012 and a 25-year prison sentence for Qatar's spying.
