The rating agency predicts a deterioration of the British budget, and says it has done so and due to the consequences of Brexit. At the same time, it changed the prospect of the UK government credit to a stable (than a negative) prospect.
Commenting on Moody's move, the British government stressed that it was based on an already "out of date" valuation of London's plans for divorce with the European Union.
"The estimates made on Brexit in this document are out of date," a government spokesman said. Earlier, Teresa Mei in a Florence speech spoke of her desire for a transitional period of about two years after Brexit.
"The Prime Minister has just described an ambitious vision for Britain's future relationship with the EU, making it clear that both sides will benefit from a new and unique relationship," the British government said.
"We have made substantial progress in reducing the deficit while, at the same time, we have found extra funds for the National Health and Welfare System. We are not complaining about the challenges ahead but we are optimistic about our bright future, "according to the same announcement.
