If the elderly is not able to communicate, the 24-hour service will immediately send help, a neighbor, family member, ambulance, Instant Action, Fire Department.
According to the planning of the Central Macedonia Region, the Crisis Management Center will have appropriately trained staff (social workers, psychologists) and will include beneficiaries' selection procedures, application of incident handling protocols, provision of personal data authorization, participating in the program and setting up all the required legal texts.
At the same time, a "paging" service is provided, allowing the elderly to communicate directly with the call center by pressing the panic button and to select any number in the event of an emergency event, while automatically informing the center's staff.
To monitor the elderly about incidents of falling, sickness, panic or homelessness, the Central Macedonia Region is planning to use, for three years, a dedicated subscription service to monitor and paging the call center through compatible social care devices.
The main objective is to provide devices to the elderly beneficiaries of the Region, based on social, medical and economic criteria.
Meanwhile, the regional governor, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, in a statement, points out the difficult economic conditions that have been created in our country in recent years and have particularly affected the vulnerable elderly group. In this context, he emphasizes that the elderly care service and the network of actions undertaken by the Region through the NSRF is intended to contribute to the problems of the elderly.
For its part, Gerakina Bissbina, the vice-governor of Public Health and Solidarity, refers to the demographic aging of the population in Greece and refers to data from the National Statistical Service (NSSG) that "in Greece the number of people over 60 will reach 2030 1/3 of the total population. "
He adds that "the action taken by the Region of Central Macedonia aims at creating a central support service for elderly or lonely people who need social assistance and support and aims at improving their quality of life, helping their lonely living and safe aging ".
