Plastic surgery is undoubtedly hit by the crisis, but it still has a momentum.
At a time when it is difficult to spend money on luxuries, beauty remains an area where many Greeks "invested" in 2017, sometimes in an effort to feel better, literally with their laxity.
At the expiration of time plastic surgeon Apostolos Gaitanis, a member of the Greek Society of Plastic Surgery and of the International Association of Plastic Surgeons ISAPS, tells us what was most preferred in the year that is over:
1. Cryolysis, radio frequency
They are two modern ways of not treating unnecessary fat. They limit "loaves" and local fat deposits in areas such as the inside and outside of the thighs, abdomen or waist.
Breast augmentation
The big chest remains a demand for women. New silicone inserts are applied, with the characteristics of their greatest stability and strength, giving a more natural shape to the breast.
3. PRP Mesotherapy for Hair
New, groundbreaking, safe treatment that solves the problem of hair loss. Using the blood plasma of the patient itself, which is rich in platelets and growth factors, infusions are injected at the spots where dilution is observed.
4. Micro botox in the wrinkles of the neck
The Surprise of the Year! This new use of botox can be applied - beyond the front and the eyes - and at the very difficult point of the neck. A specific dosage of the already known material is used and by a specific technique, followed by a doctor, using a very fine needle, with many small injections, the material is placed superficially in the muscle.
"In 2017, it was a year where several women and some men made some kind of makeover to improve something that bothered them in their appearance," explains Mr. Apostolos Gaitanis.
"New trends do not impose endlessness, but as natural as possible, and fortunately, new materials, in the hands of experienced physicians, give fine results without altering features and without distorting it."
As for the new trends of the year, the expert points out that fashions are changing, and we will certainly see new materials and new methods possibly, but some things remain fixed values in time, since they are the main demands of women in particular.
For example, a firmer neck, no longer betraying age, a "juicy" mouth or "buns," which may alter the image of an otherwise beautiful body.
In another market now, like the United States of America, in 2017 it was unofficially unveiled as the year for juicy lips - a trend that seems to continue in 2018.
The American Society of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), however, predicts that we will see some interventions that we have not seen before in the next few years.
Specifically, experts on the other side of the Atlantic talk about laser-less breast-less breasts. Indeed, they have "baptized" the "The Laser Bra Lift" method and say they could compete with the traditional breast reduction of previous years.
"It's essentially an" inside bra "without foreign material," as plastic surgeon Grant Stevens explained.
"We found that the laser affects the breast tissue, giving it improved elasticity and smoothness. Instead of removing and rejecting excess skin from the chest, "Laser Bra Lift" leaves the skin intact with the CO2 laser, creating an "inside bra".
Another method will be for eyes with the use of new fillers for "bags", while an increase is also expected in the plastic vagina.
Finally, some plastic surgeons do not rule out the possibility of seeing the replacement of botox, a new injectable material.
