Paris: Turkey needs to make very specific moves on human rights

Turkey is called upon to "make very specific moves" on human rights if it wants to give new impetus to its European candidacy. "

This is what Jean-Baptiste Lemouan, deputy minister to France and European Foreign Minister Jean-Leo Le Diran, told Sud Radio today, on the eve of the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Paris.

He continued, saying: "At the moment, this process is frozen because there are some expectations from European countries regarding elements linked to fundamental freedoms," he said.

"Consequently, Turkey needs very specific moves to allow some dossiers to be discussed. In any case, the messages will be transferred and transferred "during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," he added.

French President Emmanuel Makron has announced that he will address the issue of human rights tomorrow with his Turkish counterpart during this criticalized visit to France, mainly from the radical left and the Communist Party.

"We have to talk to the whole world, always ... In this zone that is complicated, where there are various outbreaks of conflict at the borders of Turkey ... it is important to keep a line of dialogue with all the countries that have a role", said Jean-Baptist Leman referring to the Syrian crisis.

Erdogan visits Paris at a time when Ankara seems to seek to re-establish relations with the European Union after the 2017 crisis.

The extent of the pogrom that Ankara has implemented since the failed coup in July 2016 has sparked strong criticism from European countries, first with Germany, and has led to the cessation of EU-Turkey accession talks.
